A tidbit about the grape(s)/wine style
Crémant wines are made using almost identical methods as traditional Champagne, with secondary fermentation occurring in the bottle and extended lees aging required. The grapes allowed in Crémant vary by region, with Alsatian Crémant usually consisting of some combination of Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir. (100% Pinot Noir is required in rosé Crémant from this region).

To achieve Certified Sommelier status with the Court of Master Sommeliers, candidates must pass a rigorous exam demonstrating extensive world-wide theoretical wine knowledge, proficient service skills in a mock restaurant environment, and the ability to correctly identify characteristics of various wines tasted blind.
